A two-handled terracotta jar, 13 inches tall and 10 inches wide, finished in deep matte black. Arabic calligraphy covers the front face in a close, interlocking composition, painted in silver and gold. The strokes are broad and confident, the letters built up tightly so the script fills the belly of the jar from side to side. Silver carries most of the lettering, with gold lifting certain strokes at the top and centre.
